IML Hosts Governor's Natural Resource Tour
Sheridan and Johnson Counties were chosen to host the 2008 Governor's Natural Resource Tour.
The tour was held September 8 and 9, and focused on the natural resource, economic, rural, mineral and recreational development in Sheridan and Johnson Counties. Participants evaluated and explored issues affecting these counties on federal, state and local levels. IML started off the second day by hosting breakfast for the Govenor and the 150 individuals attending this year's tour.

Governor Dave Freudenthal holds this annual tour in selected counties throughout Wyoming to share knowledge of practices, facilities and endeavors that each county is undertaking.
The goal of the tour is for the participants to take the information gained back to their home communities for application to their local issues.
Each of the 23 county commissions in Wyoming has the opportunity to nominate four individuals to participate in the event. Individuals nominated include active community leaders concerned with environmental, agricultural, recreational, economic or mineral resource issues. A host of legislators, state agency directors and natural resource-oriented nonprofit groups will also attend.
The Governor's Natural Resources Tour is coordinated through a joint effort by the Governor's Office, the Wyoming Department of Agriculture and a steering committee representing Sheridan and Johnson Counties.

Relay for Life
Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life celebrates the lives of cancer survivors, remembers cancer victims, and raises money to support research and improve the lives of those struggling with cancer. IML has been participating in Sheridan Relay for Life for three of the last four years. This year, 13 members of the IML staff formed a team to participate in the event, held June 27 and 28. An overnight community event, each team camps out at the event site and has at least one team member walking around a track holding vigil throughout the night. The track is lined with luminarias, each one representing the life of a cancer survivor or victim. IML team members worked hard to raise money prior to the event. Efforts included a yard sale held on a blistering June day, and a lawn care service provided by Randy Mortensen, our top fundraiser. In all, our team raised over $2,500. IML is proud to participate in this meaningful event alongside our friends and neighbors of the Sheridan community.
